GPOYT: Throwback Thursday - Bluenose Marathon Edition
This Sunday will be the 4th year I will be participating in the Bluenose Marathon. This year I am really injured and have not been training properly for the 10k. I am now strongly considering just to do it and see how I do instead of dropping to the 5k. Tomorrow at the expo will be decision time.
I officially hate seeing the words “cheat day” or “cheat meal”.
They should be called “reward day” or “reward meal” due to working your butt off and sticking to a routine.
This is the real me today.
For the past year I have not been up to par with everything and ignoring the scale. Last year I went through a terrible breakup that made me question everything, I’ve ignored healthy eating and rewarded myself for eating a salad by eating my weight in cookies and chips. That made me gain 20 lbs. In October 2012, I promised to start taking better care of myself. I started watching what I ate and started to go to the gym more. December 2012, I got laid off from my job. Adding to the stress of finding a job and figure out finances, I gained another 10 lbs from then until now. I tried to balance it out by going to the gym and eating better but I did not see any movement. I do see some definition in my arms and legs but I have still yet to see improvement. I hate tracking food, I lost interest in running, and have a hard time going to the gym due to cost and being bored. I signed up for the Bluenose 10K marathon next weekend but I got injured a few weeks ago and it has effected my training and motivation. My ankle still hurts after a few kms and hills. I am not ready and may have to change it to 5km which I feel like a failure.
On a positive note, after not having a job for the past 6 months, I start full time employment on Monday (possibly tomorrow depending on HR). I tried to go shopping yesterday to update my work clothes but only found a pair of capris. Everything out there is too see through or not work appropriate as I will be working with all men at my job. However, I did end up in Lululemon yesterday and decided to try on a few running skirts to see if I actually can fit in their clothing. I ended up purchasing a black pace setter skirt shown above. I loved it but I am too worried that it is too short to go outside in or if the shorts underneath are too tight on my tights since my legs are thick. It feels great on though and I feel awesome.
Now to head out and walk Kingsley on this beautiful day.
